What they actually want (must-haves)
  • JD (or equivalent) and active bar membership in at least one jurisdiction
  • 6+ years of legal experience, including meaningful in-house experience at a crypto, DeFi, fintech, or regulated financial services company
  • Deep, working understanding of DeFi, including DEXs, AMMs, smart order routing, and non-custodial wallets
  • Solid grounding in US regulatory frameworks relevant to DeFi products, including FinCEN, SEC, CFTC, and NYDFS
  • Experience providing product lifecycle legal advice directly to engineering and product teams
  • Excellent communication skills to deliver practical legal advice and synthesize complex regulatory constructs
Nice to have
  • Experience advising on MPC or other non-custodial key management architectures
  • Familiarity with AI agent architectures and legal frameworks for autonomous financial transactions
  • Experience with on-chain protocol governance, smart contract audits, or open-source software licensing
  • Familiarity with crypto asset custody regulation and card program legal frameworks
  • Exposure to prediction markets, on-chain derivatives, or structured DeFi products
