What they actually want (must-haves)
  • Associate degree in instrumentation, control technology, electrical systems, or other electrical field (or 3+ years of relevant experience)
  • 2+ years of experience working with instrumentation such as pressure transducers, thermocouples, valves, flow meters, multimeters, or oscilloscopes
Nice to have
  • Experience with resistance temperature devices (RTDs), silicon diode temperature devices, strain gauges, load cells, displacement transducers
  • Basic knowledge of Wheatstone bridge theory and Ohm's law
  • Operational knowledge of an oscilloscope and multi-meter
  • Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and motor starters
  • Knowledge in signal conditioning concepts for various types of sensors
What the job really is

As a Controls Technician at SpaceX, you will support the building and maintenance of data and control systems essential for safe and reliable access to space. Your daily tasks will involve troubleshooting, calibrating, and repairing instrumentation and electrical systems, as well as collaborating with design engineers to resolve issues based on test data. You will also be responsible for configuring data acquisition hardware and ensuring the health of various sensors and components.
