What they actually want (must-haves)
  • 3 to 6 years of hands-on technical proposal writing experience supporting DoD, DoW, NASA, or IC customers
  • Demonstrated experience writing for space systems, satellite technology, autonomous systems, defense software, or adjacent aerospace and defense domains
  • Proven ability to decompose complex solicitations independently
  • Working knowledge of FAR and DFARS sufficient to parse solicitation requirements
  • Experience across multiple acquisition vehicles: RFPs, OTAs, CSOs, BAAs, and SBIRs
  • Exceptional written communication skills
Nice to have
  • Specific experience writing for U.S. Space Force, AFRL, DIU, Space RCO, SDA, SpaceWERX, or NASA space systems programs
  • Familiarity with USSF and DoW acquisition ecosystems
  • Experience as the primary or sole proposal writer at a defense tech startup or emerging technology company
  • Ability to read and interpret system architecture diagrams, orbital mechanics profiles, or hardware block diagrams
  • Experience using AI-enabled proposal tools to accelerate drafting, gap analysis, and compliance review
What the job really is

As a Technical Proposal Writer at Lodestar Space, you will be responsible for crafting compelling proposals that effectively communicate complex technical concepts related to autonomous systems and space technology. This role involves collaborating with engineers to translate their work into compliant narratives for government solicitations, while also managing proposal schedules and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. You will work across various acquisition vehicles and have ownership over the proposal process from start to finish.
