What they actually want (must-haves)
  • Hands-on Snowflake (or comparable cloud data warehouse) experience in a production setting: SQL, warehouse operations, and query-performance fundamentals
  • Hands-on experience building and operating cloud infrastructure on AWS in production, with attention to security and cost
  • Infrastructure-as-code proficiency with Terraform
  • Experience with containerization and Kubernetes (Docker, k8s)
  • Scripting and automation skills in Python, Go, or Bash, plus experience with CI/CD pipelines and at least one tool (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI, Harness, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g. Claude, OpenAI Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, AWS Bedrock)

  • Deep hands-on Snowflake administration: warehouse sizing, resource monitoring, RBAC administration, and query optimization
  • Advanced SQL and data-warehouse internals (clustering, partitioning, caching, execution plans)
  • Experience with big-data and orchestration tools (Spark, Airflow, dbt)
  • FinOps or cloud cost-optimization experience
  • Familiarity with data governance and compliance requirements such as HIPAA or SOC2.
