  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating high-availability, correctness-critical backend and data systems
  • Proven ability to lead complex, cross-team technical initiatives from definition through delivery with minimal oversight
  • Deep comfort with relational databases and SQL — designing schemas, writing complex queries, reasoning about query performance, and managing safe schema evolution in production
  • Experience designing and versioning APIs and owning the contracts that downstream teams, customers, and SDKs depend on using Java, Kotlin, Go, or similar
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted development tooling (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) with a commitment to an AI-first engineering culture that maximizes team quality and velocity
Nice to have
  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce, NetSuite, and Snowflake — particularly integrating them into an automated quote-to-cash or usage-to-invoice pipeline
  • Experience building customer-facing data delivery: reporting APIs, bulk export pipelines, or streaming event feeds and building the developer experience around them
  • Proven ability to own and evolve platform APIs consumed by multiple internal teams and external customers, across the full lifecycle from design through versioning and deprecation
  • Experience replacing a manual, spreadsheet-driven business process with an automated system
  • Experience with identity standards such as NIST 800-63-3, OAuth2, or OpenID Connect
What the job really is

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Reporting & Billing team at ID.me, you will be responsible for architecting and owning the transactions data model, designing customer data delivery mechanisms, and leading the development of an automated billing system. Your role will involve ensuring the reliability and correctness of reporting data and billing runs, while also providing technical leadership and mentorship to the team. You will leverage AI tools to enhance engineering practices and contribute to the overall technical vision of the company.
