What they actually want (must-haves)
  • Previous experience leading construction layout crews
  • Ability to operate total stations, site levels, lasers, data collectors, and tablets
  • Strong understanding of structural, architectural, civil, and shop drawings
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, Bluebeam, layout means and methods, and general building/site constructability
  • Working knowledge of common field tools, including tape measures, hammers, torpedo levels, stick rulers, framing squares, and 2-foot or 4-foot levels
  • Intermediate math and reading skills, including basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry

  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Ability to lift and carry layout equipment weighing up to approximately 50lbs
  • Ability to work on uneven surfaces/heights
  • Ability to read/write and see & hear well either naturally or with correction
  • Agility and mobility to remain alert and stand or walk for long periods
