What they actually want (must-haves)
  • At least 4+ years of total experience in Solutions, Engineering, or a similar customer-facing technical role
  • Experience creating and delivering advanced web and security solutions for enterprise customers (3+ years preferred)
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience of web application security concepts (e.g., OWASP Top 10, DDoS, and rate limiting)
  • Deep understanding of common internet protocols, particularly HTTP & TLS, and related troubleshooting tools and techniques (e.g., curl, dig, tcpdump)

Nice to have
  • Experience in developing applications in Rust, Go, or Javascript

  • Experience writing/decoding security exploits and vulnerabilities
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, written and verbally
What the job really is

The Senior Solutions Engineer at Fastly is responsible for assisting customers in achieving effective security outcomes using Fastly's security products, particularly the Next-Gen WAF. This role involves onboarding new customers, understanding their security requirements, and providing guidance on secure solutions. The engineer will also engage in pre-sales activities and create training materials for both customers and internal teams.
