What they actually want (must-haves)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting and tax
  • 2–3 years in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and multi-state tax compliance
  • Demonstrated experience managing the monthly close process and producing accurate financial statements
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

  • Prior experience preparing for or supporting an audit or due diligence process
  • Experience building or scaling an accounting function and/or team
  • CPA, or qualifications to complete CPA are preferred
What the job really is

FamilyWell is looking for a Controller to manage the company's accounting operations and ensure compliance with tax regulations as it scales nationally. The role involves overseeing full-cycle accounting, leading the monthly close process, managing tax compliance, and implementing internal controls. The Controller will also provide financial reporting and analysis to support decision-making and collaborate with various teams to align accounting processes with company workflows.
