What they actually want (must-haves)
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA strongly preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years as a Controller or Assistant Controller
  • Deep U.S. GAAP knowledge and demonstrated ownership of a full-cycle close
  • Hands-on experience with modern ERP/accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, or Xero)
  • Demonstrated use of AI and automation tools in a finance or accounting context
  • Advanced Excel and financial-modeling skills; comfort working directly with data
Nice to have
  • Experience in a private-equity-held / PE-backed business
  • Experience in a professional-services, consulting, or technology company with project-based revenue and ASC 606 recognition
  • Track record of selecting and implementing finance technology and leading finance-transformation initiatives
  • Experience managing an outsourced or offshore accounting function
  • Familiarity with SaaS/services metrics and AWS or cloud cost economics
