What they actually want (must-haves)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • 2~3 years of relevant experience in the semiconductor industry supporting equipment in R&D, lab, or manufacturing environments
  • Hands-on experience with semiconductor equipment installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting
  • Understanding of core equipment subsystems including vacuum systems, gas delivery systems, RF/plasma systems, temperature control, robotics / wafer handling, electrical and control systems
  • Basic understanding of wafer fab operations, gas and vacuum systems, and equipment control concepts
  • Familiarity with cleanroom or laboratory environments and safe handling of chemicals, gases, or related systems
Nice to have
  • Experience with deposition equipment such as thermal ALD, PEALD, PECVD, or similar thin-film tools
  • Expertise to RF-induced plasma systems, electro-pneumatic controls, robotics, or microprocessor-based controllers
  • Expertise to thermal reactors with solid precursor delivery systems and sophisticated temperature control
  • Experience supporting early-stage or first-of-kind equipment in an R&D environment
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset with a proactive, hands-on approach to problem solving
What the job really is

As an Engineer I in Equipment Engineering at ASM, you will support the development and maintenance of advanced R&D equipment for new product development. Your day-to-day tasks will include installation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of semiconductor equipment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure equipment reliability and performance. You will also participate in continuous improvement initiatives and adhere to safety standards in all equipment-related activities.
