  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in Education, Public Policy, Organizational Leadership, Social Justice, or a related field
  • Experience working in or alongside K–12 schools required; deep understanding of the realities facing Black and Latinx students
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in equity, organizational development, education, or a related field
  • Demonstrated ability to build programs and systems from the ground up
  • Proven track record of setting goals, using data, and driving toward measurable outcomes
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and regulations (focus in CT, NY & RI)
Nice to have
  • Diversity certification(s) (CDP, CDEP, CDE-M, etc), highly desirable
  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus
What the job really is

The Associate Chief of Equity at Achievement First will lead the development and implementation of equity initiatives within the organization, focusing on both employee belonging and student-facing equity. This role involves creating frameworks, toolkits, and professional development opportunities to promote equity and inclusion, as well as collaborating with school leaders to ensure culturally responsive practices are integrated into the student experience. The position requires strategic planning and execution of equity goals, alongside effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
